New homeowners will want to invest in tools for DIY plumbing jobs, instead of relying on local plumbers. This video will explain some of the best tools a beginner can arm themselves with for DIY plumbing.
The first thing you need to do is identify where the water valve is. There are two types: a gate and a ball valve. Locate this valve so if there are issues with water leaking out of pipes you can mitigate damage by turning it off.
Get a basic set of water pump pliers. They are adjustable, but you need to make sure they are big enough. A typical set of wrenches can work for a variety of instances, but you will need the larger pliers to be a truly effective plumber.
You will also need an adjustable wrench with no teeth. The pliers with teeth will damage the brass and can lead to further damage. A basin wrench is another great tool to have. It allows you to get into hard-to-reach areas.
New homeowners need to get the right tools to handle small plumbing issues on their own. Otherwise, they will end up spending unnecessarily on plumbing contractors. For more information on plumbing tools you need, click on the video above.
